Mum's Birthday Cake

I decided to make Mum a birthday cake with three different flavours all in one cake: after all Mum said she liked chocolate, strawberry and vanilla in equal measures so who was I to say no!
So the results speak for themselves.

Rich fruit cake for Christmas; nothing better. I used a recipe for a boiled fruit cake from my college.

Scott's 40th Birthday Surprise Cake

This cake was a real challenge!
My friend David wanted a very special birthday cake created for his brother-in-law's 40th birthday. He showed me an idea he liked of a champagne bottle exploding with shiny stars. Was I up to the challenge of making a similar one?  It was over Christmas so most of my Christmas cake orders were well on the way to completion so I agreed. 
The results were as follows:

Naming Day Cake

My friend David wanted a butterfly and bunting cake for his nephew Alexander's naming day. His Mum supplied the chocolate cakes to butter cream, (Swiss butter cream) sugar paste and decorate. 
I was very pleased with this cake and it looked so elegant. The butterflies are made of a mixture of sugar paste and Royal Icing.
